Teaching experience
Dr. Politi has taught semester long courses in health psychology and statistical methods. She has also led short courses  and presentations at national meetings including those on health literacy, numeracy, risk communication, and shared decision making.

Related research
Dr. Politi’s research interests center around patient-clinician communication, risk communication, and shared decision making.  She has conducted research on ways communication impacts patients’ understanding and decision making in multiple health contexts. Her work has examined how communication impacts individuals’ decisions to engage in cancer preventive behaviors, patients’ decisions about cancer treatment, individuals’ understanding of statistics and uncertainty, and individuals’ comfort with the health care system. She has also worked on designing and evaluating decision aids that aim to simplify complex health information to facilitate appropriate health decisions.
